Heart of Missouri Balloon Club General Meeting, September 8th, 2003


Minutes of the twenty-eighth HoMBC General Meeting
Held at the Pizza Hut on Clark Lane, Columbia, at 7:00 p.m.
  1. Meeting called to order at 6:59 p.m.
  2. Old Business
    Took orders for a run of embroidered shirts, etc. from Missouri Cotton Exchange. David to place order.
  3. New Business
    Renee Graham agreed to head the VAC project for Christmas again this year. We discussed the great support for last year and whether the club thought it could support more than just a single family, this year. Renee will have more information after she receives the letter from the VAC.
  4. The 2003 Nominating committee was appointed. Its members include Marta Ferguson, Layne Wolters, and Carol Vance. They will present their slate of candidates at the October 15th meeting. Voting will take place at the November 10th meeting.
  5. David Drum presented an opportunity for the club to participate in sponsoring a horse show to further promote ballooning in a positive way in that arena, and aid in landowner relations.
  6. Exec committee presented the possibility of a HoMBC race (date to be determined by Rally committee) (proposed dates for said race are October 18th and November 8th). Race location is yet to be determined. Race was approved unanimously including the use of a waiver to release club from liability associated with the race.
  7. Also voted upon was the use of club funds to guarantee the prize pot. It was voted unanimously that the prize pot should come solely from entry fees (amount of said fees to be determined by Rally committee).
  8. Rally committee appointed. Members include Barb Davis, David Drum, Vicki Fogue, Norah Ormerod, Gary Whitby, Renee Graham, and Tucker Smith.
  9. The club, by unanimous vote approved the purchase of club baggies. A starter set is to be purchased with an approximate limit of $230 to be spent (depending on cost of baggies and shipping).
  10. Sutter's announced that the annual Pumpkin drop is scheduled for November 1st at their home in Hallsville. Everyone bring your favorite soups/chilis and goodies to share.
  11. Meeting adjourned at 8:29 p.m.
  12. Newly appointed committees set up first meeting times following the adjournment.
  13. Next meeting to be held on Wednesday October 15th, 2003 (instead of Monday, due to Albuquerque Fiesta).
