|
Minutes of the twentieth HoMBC General Meeting
Held at the Columbia Public Library on Broadway at Garth, Columbia, at 7:00 p.m.
-
Meeting called to order at 7:04 p.m.
-
September meeting minutes read by David Drum. Motion to approve by
Vicki Palmer, seconded by George Thomas, approved unanimously.
-
Barb Davis gave an abbreviated Treasurer's report from Kathy Nichols.
There were no deposits in September. Deann Vance was reimbursed for
food expenses for the Show-me State Games party hosted by the club.
-
Barb Davis has contacted NOBPA about the first responders video.
The video is 2 hours long and can be broken into 4 segments. The video
is $25 plus $5 shipping. Barb may be able to borrow it from a friend.
After some brief discussion about the video, Sharon Foltz motioned to
have the club purchase it, seconded by Steve Foltz, approved unanimously.
-
Barb Davis commented that she had not yet been able to purchase the
scoring tape approved at the September meeting. This was by way of
inquiring if anyone else was interested in buying a tape. Several people
expressed interest, then the topic changed to competition targets.
There was a consensus of need, especially if there is a competition
sanction next year. Disagreement centered around building or buying
and color schemes. George Thomas made a motion for the club to buy an
additional regulation target with a light/dark color combination for
improved visibility.
-
Barb Davis announced the nominating commitee for officer elections.
Janie Thomas, Deann Vance, and Kelly Shaw will serve. Please contact the
nominating commitee as soon as possible with your ideas or willingness
to run. You may email them at nomcom@hombc.org
-
Tim Graham reannounced the Fulton Fun Flight this Saturday. People may
show up as early as 2:30. The original announcement is available at
http://www.hombc.org/hotair/msg00362.shtml.
-
Barb Davis reannounced the Sutter's Pumpkin Drop on November 2nd.
The original announcement is available at
http://www.hombc.org/hotair/msg00384.shtml.
-
Herb Heriford gave a recap of the Creston, Iowa race.
-
Several commented that Eldon was fun. Gary Whitby placed 3rd.
-
George Thomas placed 17th at Albuquerque, other Columbia pilots placed well.
Jan Sines and William Woodland won the New Mexico Challenge Distance Race in the 90K category.
-
Barb Davis asked David Drum and Marta Ferguson to comment on the club logo
embroidery. David reported that the work has had to be revised several
times and has only just reached the point of being called "adequate".
The concern is that the work may not meet the expectations of the club.
The current sample was passed around. It was compared to separate work
of the logo done by a firm in Texas that was part of a wedding present
to David and Marta. Herb Heriford made a motion to inquire of the Texas
firm about obtaining the digitized logo, seconded by George, passed
unanimously.
-
David Drum requested that anyone who has not yet responded to his email
for updating the club roster please do so, and also that any pilots who
have crew not on the list sent to them please respond, so that they may
be invited to the Montgolfier party on November 23rd.
-
Deann Vance announced that the target has not yet been checked out.
-
Vicki Palmer passed along thanks to David Drum and whoever else helped
on the balloon club card. [I got a lot of good comments from people
and Marta put up with me a lot while I was frantically working on it.
Thanks Marta! I love you! -- David]
-
Meeting adjourned at 8:11 p.m. Some people stayed afterward to watch
the powerline safety video distributed at Fiesta.
-
The next meeting is on November 11th at 7:00 p.m. at the Columbia Public Library Conference Room A.
