Heart of Missouri Balloon Club General Meeting, February 12, 2001

Minutes of the third HoMBC General Meeting
Held at the Walton Building on Providence at Elm St, Columbia, at 7:00 p.m.
  1. Barb presented Tim with a gavel to be used for the Heart of Missouri Balloon Club meetings.
  2. Minutes from the previous meeting were approved (motion proposed by JR, seconded by Steve and passed with unanimous vote).
  3. Tim presented the treasurer's report. 67 members, bank balance of $400 less $28.88 for flowers for the Sutters. $585 in outstanding dues.
  4. The next meeting will be held at the same location (Boone County National Bank on Paris Rd) on Monday, March 12, 2001. Tim will ensure that the room is scheduled and will look into scheduling the room for future meetings.
  5. At the first meeting it was decided that the executive committee would serve until the end of March at which time there would be another election. A motion was proposed to have the existing officers serve for the rest of the calendar year (proposed by Herb, seconded by Janie and passed with unanimous vote).
  6. Barb announced that she had the bylaws almost done and that we should be able to formally adopt a set of bylaws at the next meeting.
  7. There was discussion about the club hosting open sanction flights and whether these would be NABA or BFA affiliated. It was decided that Herb, Norah, Janie and DeAnn would form a committee to investigate this (Proposed by Tim, seconded by Marta).
  8. There was discussion about the functions of a chase crew committee. How it is important to ensure that new volunteer crew are placed with pilots. That this would be part of the club's outreach efforts. Need to make names, numbers and location of chase crew available to club pilots. Herb noted that J.R. has a crew training presentation and video.
  9. It was decided to start with five committees:
    Communications (PR, publicity, newsletter).
    Events (sanctioned flights, fun flights, social events).
    Landowner Relations
    Crew
    Safety and Education
    Attendees were once again given the opportunity to volunteer for the various committees. The names of the people who have volunteered to be on these five committees will be distributed by email shortly.
  10. The meeting was adjourned at 8:10.
