new email scam you need to be aware of
Dear friends and fellow ebay users (if you use ebay, esp. if you sell on
ebay),
I have had an incident of someone using my ebay account, UNAUTHORIZED of
course. I was informed by ebay staff that I might have recieved a
new email scam which might have allowed access to my account by some
outsider. If you recieve an email appearing to be from ebay, please, make
sure it is before clicking on any links in the email. You can check to see
if a copy of the letter appears in your messages on your "MY EBAY" page. If
it doesn't appear there, forward the entire email as is to private e-mail address .
I was also advised to change my passwords on ebay, and also paypal and my
personal email account associated with these organizations (just to be
safe).
The latest scam is for you to recieve an email message asking questions
about your ebay item for sale.......... I knew something was fishy because I
don't currently have any ebay items for sale. But, if you do, be very
cautious about opening any links without first checking your message board
messages.
The letter that follows this is what I recieved from ebay staff after
reporting another suspicious email to private e-mail address . This is what they had
to say about what I had recieved.
Hope you have a safe and Ebay experience and take care in all internet
ventures. I know I will be more cautious from now on.,
Sincerely,
DeAnn Vance
