U S Cellular Balloon Classic

This year's U.S. Cellular Balloon Classic preparations are in full swing.  
The event will be very much like last year's.  One BIG change will be FREE 
admission, courtesy of U.S. Cellular.  As in past years, we will still be 
raising money for the Ronald McDonald House.
  KOMU has signed on as a major sponsor again, and will be helping promote 
the event.  Norman Roberts Communications is handling the promotion of the 
event throughout Mid-Missouri.
  We will have a pole grab, but we don't know what the prize will be. 
Everyone we know in the keygrab insurance business has gotten tired of losing 
money and will no longer write it.  We are still looking.
  Casey is doing the Venders again this year.  We should have plenty of food 
and refreshments to keep the spectators content while we wait for the wind to 
die down.
  We need someone to head up the Kid's area.  If you, or someone you know, 
would enjoy helping, let us know.
   Steve and Cindy Sheltmire are in charge of the Hospitality Hanger, so we 
can count on good food for the sponsors, pilots, and crew.  The CVB is also 
helping insure that the Hospitality Hanger will be a class act, as in the 
past.
  Our awards Banquet will be at Lennor's Community Center.  The prizes for 
this year are looking better than ever. 
  We will again be staying at the Ramada hotel.
   Pilot applications are coming in.  We have not receive applications from a 
few local pilots.  If you haven't sent in yours, and you're planning to fly 
with us, please let us know right away.   We have new, of town applicants, 
and  a cutoff of 35 balloons.
