Maiden Voyage

March 25 was a bummer. That was the day I blew up my balloon. But, 
fortunately, With the help of insurance and understanding bankers we got a 
new one ordered almost immediately. Then with Rowdy, Sid and Elanor's help 
(Not to mention the rest of the crew at TBW) we got to put it in the air for 
the first time tonight.

It was sweet! 

I fly pretty much all year but Cheri (Wife/crew cheif) is a fair weather 
pilot so tonight was perfect for her. Slow breeze from the south, nice 
freshly mowed yard for a launch,big open park right in our line of 
flight...What more could you ask for for a maiden flight. Cheri even got 
current before we ever left the park! First landing she thought was a little 
hard but the next 3 were perfect.

The other balloon we had we also bought new in 94? but after a few years one 
forgets how responsive a new envelope is. I'm anxious to get it to Danville. 
NO MORE RAIN OK! 

Three other balloons also flew tonight and several people came out just to 
see the new one. It was good to see Gary W. tonight.  And the Sutters and all 
their crew (Nice to meet you Michelle) Tim and Gary also flew> Dennis and 
Cheri both landed in the same church parking lot after a short flight and we 
returned to our original meeting place for a toast for the occasion with 
George's Champagne. Unfortunately, George had to leave right after the launch 
so he missed the toast. Thanks anyway George.

Thanks to everyone tonight. It is great to have such a strong fellowship of 
friends to help you through the hard times and celebrate the good times. I 
can only wish for all of you the blessing of a friend as good as you!!!
