Balloon Club Holiday Flight & Social

At the meeting the past Monday, I volunteered to try to coordinate a
club event for December. I sorry that I was out of town for Denis and
Ellen's pumpkin drop because I really miss seeing everyone.

I know that club meetings can be kind of dry and that early on, we got
bogged down in the logistics of how to run a meeting. Thankfully,
during Herb's presidency, the "Roberts Rules of Order" became "Herb's
Humorous Suggestions." In an effort to get us back to flying and
shootin' the bull together, I would like to find out what our club
members would like to do. Sooo.... Here's the deal:

There has been a suggestion that we try to have an event on Saturday,
December 11, 2004. Hopefully, we can fly and then have some kind of get
together.

Does that date work for folks? If not, are there alternate dates to
consider? Would you like to try for a Sunday afternoon instead?

I was thinking that we could meet at my office at 300 S. Providence
Road. There is plenty of parking for balloon trailers and crew
vehicles.

If it is flyable, we can go fly and then come back to my building for a
holiday social. If it isn't flyable, we could just socialize earlier
and be done so folks can go on to other activities they may have.

As for the social event, here are a few suggestions:

1) We do a pot luck dinner and everyone brings a dish to share.

2) We could all chip in on pizza or subs and then perhaps some of the
club members would bring desserts.

3) We could have a dessert only party or a cookie exchange.

4) We could have an appetizer party.

I would be happy to supply coffee, hot cocoa, cups, napkins, plates,
and plastic utensils for the event. In addition to whatever dish you
may bring, you can also bring your adult beverage of choice.

To add to the holiday festivities, we could also do some kind of gift
exchange. Perhaps everyone that wants to participate could bring an
ornament? Or we could do some kind of drawing for prizes. Again, I
welcome suggestions from the club.

Please let me know what you would like to do. You can send your
suggestions to private e-mail address You can e-mail me directly at
private e-mail address, or call me at home at 445-2688.

Thanks!

Renee
