You won't want to miss this one! Sept. 8 meeting
Loads of stuff going on this month that requires your attention. This is the agenda for the HOMBC Meeting Sept. 8, 2003. We will be meeting at 6:30 in the meeting room of the Pizza Hut on Clark lane. (By Home Depot) 1. There will be a new club roster available. 2. David Drum will be sharing an update on the new map progress. If anyone has any more info on new PZ's or removed PZ's please bring that along. 3. We hope to have info from Renee about the VAC Family sponsorship for the Christmas season. 4. Landowner relations: Getting Hot Air Ballooning out in front of landowners in a positive way. 5. Logoed shirts etc. will be ordered Tuesday the 9th. Bring in anything you want logo'd or your order for shirts/coats/long underwear or what ever the cataloge contains, along with a check. We will figure an approx. price for deposit. The balance or refund will be made up at delivery. 6. Finally, The possibilitiy of a balloon race. I will summarize the thoughts of the board from Tuesday, 8-26-2003. Open balloon race October 18, 2003. (Not a home game weekend - Before daylight time ends - Before Deer season - before weather gets squirley) ( Nov. 8 is also a possibility) This would be a KISS race...Keep It SImple Stupid. Club will guarantee a minimum prize pot ($300?) Note will be sent out to Reflector or ? inviting MO, IL, IA, KS, Canada or wherever else they may be from, pilots to attend. They would pay entry fee which would? go into the prize pot ($50?) ie: 20 pilots, $1000 in the pot to be divided between top 3 scores for the weekend. Flights would be Sat. a.m. and p.m. only. Pilots provide their own room board and propane. (We are trying to simplify the propane and maybe discount it) Several people have offered to let someone spend the night at private homes. If you have friends from foriegn places like Iowa, you could invite them to stay with you friday night and get the heck out after the race sat .p.m. Sunset is 6:30ish so they would have time to get home. They could bring campers or tents too. Gary Whitby has offered to Meister this event. Several observors have offered to score for us. Should be fun! Nothing is, as of yet, chisled in stone so come to the meeting and bring your chisel. We would value the input of any one with any local event experience. Suggestions are open for mid day plans for out of town pilots too. Thank you and we will see you Monday, Sept. 8!!! HOMBC Board
