The results are in! Sat. July 5.
Our club is blessed with a large portion of the nations best observors. One of these days we are going to have a club flight where they actually get to measure a baggie dropped within the confines of an X'ed field. For the few of you that weren't there Saturday eve. you didn't miss that flight. But, you did miss a wonderful flight and indeed, a wonderful evening (Although this pilots crew didn't always feel that way.) The surface winds were forcast to be at 9 til 8:00 then to die down to 5 but they slowed down early enough that we could have launched by 6:00 if we had been ready. But, since we had an energetic group of scoring officials in attendance it seemed appropriate to pick a target and place an X. The baggies were prepared and passed out. Each pilot was given 3 - 1/2 oz. baggies that, if he/she coud resist eating them could drop all 3 at the same X. The nearest of the 3 would be scored. Apparently, the pilots were hungry because there seemed to be no baggies at the X! (Thank you Gary W) After a fun ride most of the way from Margret and Maurice Stack's yard to Kingdom City Balloons found nice fields etc. in which to land...in most cases. At least one of those fields showed the pilot exactly how long he could fly on 3 tanks of fuel and how dedicated his crew was but even with a tough retrieve the crew still came through. Festivities continued at "The Post Office" well into the evening before everyone finally headed back to the ranches. Once again, Fulton offered a fun place to congregate and have a great flight! Thanks Tim, Renee, Margret and Maurice! We'll be back! NOTE: There is a business meeting scheduled for Monday, July 14 at the library. Keep a watch on your email for more info. Herb
