More info about March 22
The winds are going to be from the sw at 4k at sunrise to a clear unfoggy day. If we are lucky! Jason made a trip down to Marshall from KC this morning and went to the airport to see if there would be any problem as far as they were concerned. They said they'd love it! The Airport manager even took him up in his airplane to tour the area! We have been give permission to use tha airport for launching, landing or a target. The airport is pretty easy to find but I don't know street names yet so I will have to fill in those blanks later. Now, here is the kicker. It is going to take at least one hour to get there from Columbia and an hour and a half from JC or Moberly. We will be meeting at the airport at 30 minutes before sunrise. Sunrise in Columbia is at 6:10 according to flight service so just a little later than that in Marshall. You can do the math. If you are interested in going please contact me by Wed. evening via e-mail. Jason is calling me thursday to see if there is still enough interest. There will bee need for at least two observers if anyone wants some early morning practice at scoring. It will be some good early season practice at competition flying. we haope to have at least two tasks. We have been informed that we need onlt 6 pilots to be sanctioned and there are at least 3 coming from KC. and possibly a couple from Indianola. The possibility of an entry fee which would turn 100% into a purse to be divide by first and second place was suggested by Gary W. That is still to be discussed among participants. If you have any questions OR if you didn't get this e-mail let me know. Herb
