Hi Kelley,

Years ago I bought a yellow Suunto Vector from Roland Escher. Probably
Y2K or earlier. Back when I still used it, I found it quite reliable
compared to standard instruments, and altitude was easy to read. The
variometer had a bit of a delay and was smaller than the altitude
display, but I really only used the wristwatch for the altitude. I
haven't touched it in years because I rarely use instruments in my
ultralight anymore. When I do, I'm carrying a small GPS which tells me
my altitude, speed and rate of climb/descent. My internal temperature
will never be an issue when flying the 42k solo, so I don't need to
worry about a pyrometer.

Thanks for reminding me that I had one! :) I stopped using it before
I got heavily into passenger flying, so I ought to pop a new battery
in and see how it keeps up. It's always good to be able to check your
altitude without swimming through a basketload of passengers, and the
stopwatch should come in handy for timing tanks and flight length.

Soft Landings,
Jon Radowski
