Re: [balloon-makers] Parachute Vent and Centering lines
The fid I use to finger trap braided suspension line is 1/8" diameter
stainless steel about 3" long. One end is pointed and the other is drilled
and threaded. You cut the line with a hot knife thread it into one end of
the fid and feed the fid and line back into line at the point where you want
the splice or loop. You push the fid back out through the side of the line,
pinch the end where the line goes into the fid and pull the fid off the end
of the line you just trapped. The whole process is simple once you have
done it.
Paragear has a set of 3 fids made out of Delrin (unbreakable plastic) for
$9. # S7979 I have never used the plastic fids so I do not know how well
they work. Hope this helps.
