[balloon-makers] Parachute Vent and Centering lines
I have the nylon for my balloon, and the load tape (from Bally
Ribbons) came today!! My next step is cutting out the pattern.. I
CAN'T WAIT!!
One thing that I need to know is what kind of small rope do you use
for the rigging for the parachute valve? Each attachment point gets
two 'strings' attached to it. One that goes down to the apex and
then to the RED LINE, just exactly like a parachute, and the other
that goes over to the edge of the balloon, called the centering line.
When I look at this thin cord on commercial balloons, I can't really
tell what it is.. It is generally smaller than parachute cord, but
what is it made of? I would think that it needs to be something more
heat resistant than Nylon and not as stretchy either. Is it
Polyester? or what exactly is it? And, where do I buy it?
