[balloon-makers] Introduction, Keith Sproul, WU2Z

Hello All

My name is Keith Sproul. I am a Ham Radio person too (WU2Z).. My
name has already been mentioned her a couple of times.

I have done work with Jon Radowski. He has been a great person to
learn from. I have also been working with Tom Deering. We are going
to be making a couple balloons together..

I have already made two Radio Controlled balloons:
The first one was made from scrap material from a 'real' balloon.

I just finished the second one, and the first pictures (from this
evening's inflation) are at:

My brother and I work for Rutgers University and this was done for
the Rutgers Ham Radio Club to show-off at Rutgers Engineering Open
House which is THIS weekend. Tom (and hopefully Jon) will be joining
me for this effort.

I will be making a 42k Pink and Purple envelope for my T&C chariot
balloon. A drawing of what this will be like is at:

Thanks to Jon Radowski for the drawing..

Also, as has been mentioned on this list, I am one of the authors of
APRS. APRS is Automatic Positon Reporting System. This is the system
that was used to track the balloons in the Gordon Bennett race last
October.

My brother and I write WinAPRS (for Windows) MacAPRS (for Macintosh)
and X-APRS for X-Windows (LINUX / UNIX). There are other versions for
DOS, Palm Pilots and the Web, this were written by friends of ours..
We have been writing this software since 1993.

Also, of note: My brother and I are identical twins, our wives are
fraternal twins, their birthday is ONE day after ours (YES SAME
YEAR), we are all Ham Radio Operators
